Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Toast (the menu bar / system tray application for macOS and Windows available at toast.asit.space) and its website handle information. Toast is developed independently and is not affiliated with Vercel Inc.

Summary

Toast is designed to keep your sensitive data on your device. The app stores your Vercel personal access token and preferences locally. It communicates directly with Vercel’s API to read deployment status. To improve reliability and fix bugs, Toast can optionally send anonymous usage data and crash reports to our analytics provider when “Help improve Toast” is enabled. We do not collect your name, email, Vercel token, team, project names, or deployment details.

Information the app stores locally

On your device, Toast may store:

This information stays on your device unless you remove it by disconnecting the app or uninstalling Toast.

Anonymous product analytics

When “Help improve Toast” is enabled (on by default; you can turn it off in Settings), Toast sends anonymous diagnostic and usage information to PostHog to help us understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. This data is used only to improve Toast — not for advertising or profiling.

What we may collect:

What we do not collect through analytics:

PostHog assigns a random anonymous identifier on your device. We do not use analytics to spy on your Vercel activity — only to understand app health and improve the product.

Information sent over the network

When you use Toast, the app may contact:

Toast does not send your Vercel token to any server operated by the Toast developer. API requests go directly from your Mac to Vercel.

Website

The Toast website provides a landing page, download redirect, and update feed. Like most websites, hosting infrastructure may log standard request metadata (such as IP address, browser type, and requested URL) for security and operations. The site does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Toast uses local OS notifications to alert you when a watched deployment completes. Notification content is generated on your device from deployment data retrieved from Vercel.

What we do not collect

Third-party services

Your use of Vercel is governed by Vercel’s privacy policy. Analytics are processed by PostHog. Downloads are hosted on GitHub Releases; GitHub’s policies apply to that infrastructure.

Your choices

Children

Toast is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
